Read Count: 4 – what can I say?? :)
My Rating: 4 stars!
Description: Nalini Singh returns to her phenomenal Psy-Changeling world as a woman in peril finds herself in the arms of a dangerously beautiful shapeshifter…
San Francisco is under threat from a violent gang…a gang that has no idea who they’re challenging. The DarkRiver pack of leopard changelings has already claimed the city as their territory, and they will fight with wild fury to protect its residents. Emmett, a lethally trained leopard soldier, isn’t about to let outsiders muscle in on his home ground—especially when they target a human named Ria.
Emmett has one word for the smart stranger with her curvy body and tough spirit: mine.
Possessive, dominant, unyielding in his demands and desires, Emmett is unlike anyone Ria has ever before met. But while the sexy leopard changeling makes her body ignite, his kisses molten and his touch addicting, she’s no pushover and she has a few demands of her own. This leopard has met his match.
Whisper of Sin was such an absolute joy. I’m such a huge fan of her Psy-Changeling series, and after reading all the books, I’m exist in a world with no new Psy-Changeling books!! What?! It’s such a sad world to live in 😭 That being said, it was SO good to step back in to the world. Like coming home 💕✨
Whisper of Sin was a short story featuring Emmett, a DarkRiver leopard changeling and soldier, starting that the moment he saw a woman being attacked and rescued her. The woman’s name is Ria, a human, and as a result of the attack, she now has a target on her back from the gang who intends to finish the job. Looks like Emmett will have to protect her now… Darn…
I should preface this by saying that Nalini Singh is one of my top two authors ever. Ever, ever, ever. I adore her Psy-Changeling series like I love my sweaters and blankets (a lot) and her contemporary series’ are just as good. Ms. Singh is always able to build these amazing worlds and backgrounds around characters so they are very real to me while I’m reading them. The characters always have an amazing connection that just makes you have hope in life and love, and usually very blush-inducing ☺️ We love a shapeshifter, and Emmett is no different with his outrageous flirtation methods.
“Stop acting like the big bad cat.”
A blink, and when he raised his lashes, the eyes that looked back at her were in no way human. “Mmm, I smell a pretty little human in my territory.” A soft whisper against her lips, bright green-gold eyes daring her to respond.
Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that this is a novella. It’s not relevant to the over-arching storyline in the series, and has a much higher emphasis on the romance than the paranormal, unlike the books from the main series. These novellas are just the author having some fun and for the fans, who want more Singh paranormal books in their life. Definitely read the main books first, then move along and sate your thirst for more with the fun novellas. Or if you need a break from the main books, these are fun short distractions :)
I’m not going to lie, I’ve read this book twice in the last month, which brings my total read count to 4four. Part of it is that they’re free on my library app, and another part is that I live in a constant state of needing more Singh books. But mostly, it’s because it’s a really sweet, flirty paranormal romance that gives me a taste of what I need, and does it quick. If I’m in a slump, in between books, or life is too busy to commit to a full book, these are the novellas that I pick up.
Emmett and Ria are just so adorable together! Their romance, their banter and honestly just everything that they have is so sweet. Anytime I’m down, these two are able to get me back up. The attraction between the two is enormous and scorching. I can’t recommend this one enough if you need more Nalini Singh in your life!! But if you haven’t read her yet… I’d suggest picking up the first book in her urban fantasy series or one of her contemporary’s first to get the full extent of her power ✨ (See my review of the first book)
